The mammoth task begins of sorting out our Dolomites trip photographs. I took 625 digital and another 90 medium format negatives arrive tonight... oh brother.
I'm listening to the iTunes playlist we took with us as we drove up and down some of the Dolomites hair-raising roads, I wish I was back there *sniff* We had the most bonkers weather too for a July in Italy: 35 degree heatwave, snow, driving hail the size of axe-heads... sometimes within hours of each other. Global warming eh?
Anyway, here's one completed, 657250262374 to go:
There'll be more to come on my Flickr later.
I wish I had a plate of canerdeli and deer right now.
Two weeks until we go away and we can't wait. M and I haven't had a holiday since May last year... since then we've bought the most unlucky flat in London and we've been a bit despondant.
As part of trying to be greener were taking the Eurostar / night-train option to and from Italy. I used to do this a lot in my single back-packing days; this time however we've sprung for better seats. It's M first time on a night-train and bar being way too tall for the couchettes I'm sure he'll like it. You get air-con in first class too... wow I would of killed for that on the sweaty Paris to Napoli night train back in the day. The main boon - other than being greener - is that there is a bigger luggage allowance and you are not separated from your bags. This time I've decided to take my old medium format camera and tripod... I can't imagine EasyJet letting me take that on as hand luggage.
We're doing 3 days at Lago di Garda, then a week trekking around the Dolomites followed by four days in Venice to coincide with Redentore and the Biennale.
Not taking short haul flights is feeling very good so far.
