Make up recommendations
A few weeks back I had a terrible rashy outbreak around my eyes and neck. Puffy, red and weepy. As house refurbishing stress is making me break out in random rashes I didn't pay it much heed. However, I've traced that particular incident to make-up. I don't wear eye make up or foundation very much or indeed very often but on this occasion I wore both. So I did a painful makeup audit and chucked most of it away, particularly if it had not been worn in months. Bye bye NARS sparkly black eyeshadow, bye bye Benefit Benetint, bye bye expensive Japanese mascara (made with real rubber) from Pout. *Sniff* I restocked on a few make-up items from Clinique, I can use their facial cleansing range with no rashes. Well one eyecream was a bit hit and miss but I swapped for another and all was well. Turns out my eyes don't like creams with sunscreen built in or my cheeks creams with AHAs in. Trouble is Clinique has boring colours. I want to go back and buy another bunch of NARS stuff - their tanganika lipstick and their blackbird eyeshadow is just fab. But I don't want to cause another rash... Anyone have any top tips for makeup ranges that suit allergy prone skin but isn't boring on the colours? Miss P I am thinking of course of you ;) Maybe I just need to wear it more often so it doesn't sit around for so long.

It's really hard to work out what causes some rashes. I'm wondering if it was the mascara - rubber is a common allergen. But then again, it ended up on your neck too, so maybe not. It could have been the foundation and/or powder, or food, or stress, or change in the weather or water, or sleeping on different pillows washed in a different detergent than you normally use...
And on a happier note, there are lots of different sunscreens and you might get on better with ones that only contain titanium dioxide as the sunscreen agent. Have a look at cosmeticscop.com to find out more about chemical suncreens.
Urban Decay and Hard Candy use quite a few things that might irritate, although they have some fun colours. Have you thought about maybe MAC or Shu Uemura? I have never tried RMK, but they look interesting too. Ruby and Millie have some interesting stuff that's pretty good value as well. Maybe buy one thing and see how you get on. If you're buying a mascara, make sure it doesn't have fibres in it (some have them to bulk up lashes) as this is incredibly irritating to sensitive eyes.
I have Mac stuff and that's pretty good. I would stay away from Stila if I came out in rashes - I have a bunch of that and it always makes me sneeze.
The best tinted moisturiser (I use it instead of foundation) is Laura Mercier. Her make-up seems like a very sensible range so you could try her eye make up out.
Miss P what would we do without you - you are a national treasure x
Thanks for the tips ladies, it's much appreciated. When I can decently spend money on anoything other than house related items I shall have a girlie expedition to MAC and Space NK.
